Reproduction and copyright conditions for the JCU Picture Archive
- Digitised images provided in the JCU Digital Images Catalogue may be used for study or research as allowed under the fair
dealing provisions of the Copyright Act 1968 (as amended). However in accordance with commonly held practices users are requested
to acknowledge and attribute any use of these images to the James Cook Univeristy. The usual acknowledgement is, for example:
NQ Collection, James Cook University or
Daintree Series, James Cook University - Images may not be reproduced for publication without the prior consent of James Cook University. Copies of the images can be ordered directly from JCU for reproduction, display or research purposes.
- If the image is still in copyright, clearance must also be requested from the copyright holder before any use is made of the image. JCU must receive the copyright clearance in print format (a fax is acceptable) before an order is processed.
- It is the responsibility of the requester to obtain clearance from the copyright holder. If copyright conditions apply, the status is indicated the copyright field in the long view of the record.
- JCU has endeavored to ascertain the copyright status of all the images in the JCU Picture Archive.
